Work Bio

Mêlisa is an award winning playwright (Parity Commission Winner, Margaret Lamb Prize), and as a playwright her plays have been developed and presented at and with Parity Productions, The Lark and Dorset Theater Festival at the Theresa Rebeck Writers Colony, The New School, Primary Stages, ESPA*Drills (2014), The Lark, The National Arts Club NYC, The Playground Experiment, Rattlestick Theater (Jam).

Mêlisa is currently the lead writer on a new radio play series Of Spacious Skies for the The Fine Arts Center at Colorado College. 

TV and Commercial writing include; Jessy & Nessy (Amazon Studios), Trader Joe's Frequent Flyer segments, and Conde Nast online videos.

Mêlisa iss currently working on a new musical "The King's Wife" with Grammy Award Nominee Jamie Floyd (you can follow us on instagram @thekingswifemusical and hear some songs from the show!)

Personal essays have been published in several major publications (The Western Mail, Cara, Dinesydd, Salon, HowlRound), and she is a frequent contributor to the BBC, BBC Wales, BBC Radio Wales.  

Mêlisa also teaches at the NYU Tisch Dramatic Writing program in NYC.

A Selection of Work

As a director Mêlisa adores working playwrights on new play, from the table read to the workshop to realizing it on stage.  Musicals and classical works also floats her boat, so lets float together.
